Daily Planet - February 2001 Nikon F2 w/180mm Nikkor lens
The Times-Star building (1933) is a fine example of art deco in Cincinnati. I decided, after my usual walkabout, to emphasize the vertical sweep of the building rather than its L-shape. This wasn't possible close by, because other structures blocked the view and/or wide angle lenses distorted the image. Instead, I set up on lower Mt. Adams in the late afternoon to backlight the scene (a challenge with infrared film!), and let the rear of the building lead the eye to the tower that now has, due to the high-contrast in the vertical ribs, a pronounced upward motion.
