East of the Gap

East of the Gap - August 2002
Nikon F2 w/35mmPC Nikkor

My usual approach to composition is to isolate subject and use all other components of the image to move the eye to the subject. In the Smoky Mountains, that is a challenge, because the peaks are clustered in groups, and the foliage is part of the experience. In this image on the Carolina side of Newfound Gap, I move from the left edge of the frame to the large tree, to the second tree, and then to the mountains. So, do I want you looking at the trees? Or through the trees to the vista beyond?
