St. Louis Missouri - June 1996 Nikon F2 w/Nikkor 55mm
This photo shows you don't have to go to great lengths to get unique images. You only have to clear your mind of preconceived notions before doing your on-site reasearch. I have often had viewers comment on the originality of this image, about how they have never seen another like it. They imply that it must have been difficult. Actually, it was easy. I did my usual walkaround and found this location on the hillside below the pathway leading from the garage on the north side of the arch. Nothing else I saw that day had the compositional elements evident here. The top of the treeline leads the eye easily to the arch (I liked R to L better than a south side L to R), and the dark trunks echo the vertical thrust. One is almost guaranteed a usuable image.
