Great Sand Dunes - Colorado April 1996 - Nikon F2 w/Nikkor 85mm Visit this place!! And go in the off- season. 55 square miles of sand leaning against the snow-capped, cloud-swept Sangre de Cristos creates a sense of wildness that is rare in such an easily accessible place. The subject in my image is my daughter, Laura. Without her, the sand is interesting, even soothing, but it has no focal point. It doesn't matter that she occupies less than 1% of the image area. It does matter that that is where you must look.
